IDC just raised it's estimate for 1999 PC shipments to 14.1% in Q1 and 14.3% for the year 1999.

But, they see revenue rising 4.8% to $178.4 billion due to lower ASPs.

"Vendors that will benefit from strong consumer growth include Compaq, Gateway 2000, Inc., eMachines Inc. and Apple Computer Inc., IDC said."

I'm curious why you think EMC is a loser in the pc collapse. My understanding (perhaps out-dated?) is that the bulk of EMC's sales is to the Unix and mainframe markets. I believe EMC is simply out-executing IBM and others in those markets.

MB,

BAC is startling to look like put bait as well.

All out of risk money -- bought my puts or initiated short positions on Friday on EK and other Dow components.
