Gary, Dan Niles is many things, but my friend ain't one of them. However, I do give the guy some grudging credit. When he was dead wrong on DRAM sales and prices in 1996 and 1997, he admitted he got it wrong. I think that is admirable in a human being. It is not as admirable for an analyst to get it wrong so often, though. <g>

I am on the fence on this one. I think Intel is having a lousy quarter but will not preannounce and will likely use every trick in their very large bag of tricks to cover up the disaster. The last time they fell on their face, I don't believe they preannounced.

Gary:

Interesting rumor...especially since it incorporates Earlie's date of latest order cancellation March 11, as the date they are pushing their salespeople to book orders. Don't know how to read that...a good lie always has some truth in it (so I'm told, anyway<g>), but then again, anticipation of cancellations (or having already received them) could be the actual reason...if the rumor's true. Considering the negative reports about sales from other sources, I'm inclined to think it's a valid "rumor." BWDIK.
