Cheeky,

According to a programmer friend of mine, there may be a more immediate problem:

"This just in from an inside source - I've not read it anywhere.

A consultant hired to work on software for a LA securities firm has just finished a lot of testing with what we might well call the D10K bug. Few firms have realized there is a problem here. Seems like a lot of financial software is not exactly prepared for the DOW exceeding 10,000.

So you may have cashed out for the wrong reason, but perhaps at exactly the right time!"

He has been attentive to the Y2K problem, and although not as cynical as you appear to be, pays attention nonetheless. We have no idea what the implications of this snag may be.
