Hell, I don't remember, I didn't get a scholarship from them so maybe that was the difference. Doesn't matter, I had developed a rabid hatred of schooling by the time I graduated from high school anyway. Seemed to be quite mutual, as most of the teachers in my senior year hated me back. An ugly year, all in all.

Semifinalist is based only on your SAT score. THen you have to submit an application for finalist, with your school records, an essay, outside activities, recommendations. A lot of schools do offer free rides to finalists, but they haven't been CW's choices. I think the REAL bucks and fame come with being a Merit Scholar-only about 7K make that- out of 14K finalists. We don't even think about that. I 've never even known one.
