What year was that? Sorry, but I don't know.

After reading last night's posts, I am so grateful that I'm old and dumb!!!! You poor babies!! You all sound so unhappy.
I grew up before the days of drugs and free sex. WHen cheerleader skirts were long enough to touch the tops of our white socks and saddle oxfords and the sweaters turned us into shapeless blobs. When you didn't even kiss until the third date, and girls always wore dresses to school, and the Lord's Prayer was read every Monday morning over the intercom.
We had sockhops and Sadie Hawkins Dances, we wore pouffy prom dresses with lots of layers, we walked to school, and our father's had no interaction with us at all except to look at our report cards and tell us we had too much make-up on. I lived Happy Days.
Which does not mean there was no angst, no temptations, but they were on a more manageable, less life-threatening scale. And the price you paid was predictable.

It makes me sad to read how unhappy your teen years were; and sad that our society makes so little provision for dealing with the best and brightest.
