James,
You mention a more scalable solution in your reply, but only mention the Redback SMS1000 by name. My only problem with the RedBack box is simply that, scalability. It can only handle 4,000 clients per box. I don' really want to discuss the ROI, the important issue here is scalability.
What is a more scalable solution? Inserting an ATM Switch in front of the Redback, manually configuring PVC's? This obviously doesn't scale well. I have been struggling with this and other issues like fault tolerance for a while now. I recently found out about a possible solution from Newbridge, your comments are welcomed.

BCT.Telus Communications, Canada's second largest ISP is looking at the Newbridge solution for the same reason: scalability without the hassle!

Pat,

Remember, I'm a trader of NN stock. The price of the stock on a daily basis means something to me.

Your link points to a Versatile IP story. Do you have another link I can try? Specifically, any info that CSCO pulled out would be appreciated as well.

TIA,

Peppe
