Newbridge, Siemens get Global One deal

(Full text of press release from Canadian Corporate News)

MARCH 10, 1999

Global One Selects Siemens and Newbridge as Strategic Partners for its ATM-based
Backbone Network

MUNICH, GERMANY--Siemens AG and Newbridge Networks Corp. announced today that Global One, a worldwide
joint venture of Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom and Sprint has selected the MainStreetXpress ATM Switching System
for the development of the next stage of its worldwide ATM-based backbone network. The agreement that has been signed
between Global One and Siemens is for an initial period of five years and covers the supply and support of the
MainStreetXpress for Global One worldwide.

The extended ATM-based backbone network will facilitate the high speed transport of the rapidly growing traffic between
the most important business centers in North America, Europe and Asia and so excellently complement the existing Global
One worldwide ATM-based network.

A first phase of this development, based on the MainStreetXpress product of Siemens and Newbridge, linking the key
business center cities worldwide, is being implemented and managed by Global One. This provides an ATM-based
backbone infrastructure network to interconnect and provision seamless services for all customers, including those of its
shareholders, Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom and Sprint, on a worldwide basis.

This will facilitate the further expansion of Global One network services by providing not only new Permanent Virtual Circuit
(PVC) and Switched Virtual Circuit (SVC) based ATM services but also by enhancing the high-speed backbone for the
existing Global One voice, data and multimedia services. Global One is currently confirming the configuration compatibility
of the MainStreetXpress with other systems in its laboratories.
