William and Dell Investors: Dell Computer Corp. The Wall Street Journal -- March 10, 1999 Air Force Awards Computer Pact WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Air Force's Standard Systems Group awarded a two-year, $417 million blanket purchase agreement for computers, servers and notebook systems to Dell Computer Corp. in Round Rock, Texas; Gateway Inc. in North Sioux City, S.D.; and Micron Electronics Inc. in Nampa, Idaho. Blanket purchase agreements, used by many federal agencies, allow departments to purchase from vendors that are preselected on the basis of value, reliability, service, and reputation. This is the second Air Force agreement both Micron and Dell have entered into.
