Hi Susan, hope there'll be an opportunity to play poker with you sometime - but as a pardner, not an opponent! Let's put it this way, on days like this it isn't easy to restrain myself from selling more of my solid stocks at the core which I started out with (but not the telecoms which started up in Internet on their own!), to get more Internets. My Portfolio Allocation is now at just about 50% nons, & 50% tech-nets. About a year ago I traded the shaggy trimmings of 1/4 of my non-nets for Internets to start up the sector, & look at the difference in growth! If I had sold 'em all and gotten so many more shares of techs and nets then, as Jed says I would be a almost a Gazillionaire. Because I didn't, am still a wannabe. I guess that tells you something about doing what you feel is the right thing for your own level of risk tolerance which is all an illusion anyway. I get a comfy mirage of "playing it safe" by not touching the core anymore; plus I put all kinds of rules and limits on myself because if I didn't I could easily go into out-of-control Lady Riverboat Gambler Fast-Forward mode with these Incredible Stocks - I need the disciplines (basis out at doubler, etc.) and limits (no touchee the core) to calm me down which is good. I don't need to unleash Fast-Forward Mode until I return to creative work, ya know what I mean. I know from long experience how I could get, and I do mean uh-oh! Susan, you're just Going For It, Portfolio All Internets, Pedal To The Metal! Of course all your eggs in Internets breaks the rules for asset allocation; you must have an online broker because a live broker who is your friend would be compelled to rain on your parade and you would know why. I keep my nets and cores in seperate accounts and sometimes I want to check the balance from divs in the cores and when I first teasingly say that account number my broker gets a worried tone. Most of my friends and family who know I'm into Internet Stocks tell me I've lost my marbles for buying any at all...if they knew it was half of my holds who knows what they would say...everything is relative and More Power To You Susan! That's why we would make great poker pardners, wouldn't we? But not opponents (for the health of MY wallet, anyway). Have said before, and saying it again, that an undisputable inherent factor in the outer-space valuations of these low or no earnings net stocks is the fact that owning shares in them is the only way to pay to own a part of the greatest masterpiece artwork of the last 5 years of the 20th Century. When I say pay to own, I mean you can own the Online Art for free with a puter, printer, & a scanner. It's like going in on a partnership for a percentage of a Chagall - the only difference between the Master's Painting and The Internet is that the partners needn't take turns hanging it in their homes while waiting for the investment to appreciate! I do believe this is really why the Nets pop right back up everytime they're whacked...the same underlying factor of desirability in the shares. Those who talk of Tulip Bulbs only have it half right. So you're a graphic artist (as I see on your Profile) I'm a used-to-be and gonna-be-again artist, myself. Don't you think Internet Stocks, Software, and Communications Gadgets are such a natural for artists?! You'll do as fine as you yourself are comfortable about it, Susan. Best of luck as you raise and hold that straight high flush, 909s, Joanie
