I have also been tracking those calls. This is the OI data I have as of the close on each day from DLJ:

4th: 2552
5th: 2651
8th: 2651
9th: 3146

So by my calculations that is a 23% increase in 4 days, and as you mentioned, most has been done at 3/16 or 1/4.

Yes, I do. In fact the latest number is 3146 OI on March 10 calls. Other longer term out options such as April 10, Jun 10, Sept 15 has also been traded actively in the last several days.
