# of shares owned by MD 370 million--per Bloomberg.

GJ: Notice MD started venture capital firm last year and he put in about a billion dollars into it.Besides this he also invests in other things,plus gives away a lot of money to charity.
================
The regulatory filing was dated Friday just before the
company split its stock 2 for 1, Dell spokesman T.R. Reid said.
Dell's sale of the 8 million post-split shares represents about
2 percent of his 370 million shares.
The estimated value is based
on Friday's split-adjusted closing price of 43 1/32.
......................

Dell, 34, got less for his shares than he would have Feb. 1
when they touched a split-adjusted record 55. They fell after the
company reported quarterly sales that fell short of most
investors' expectations. Reid said investors shouldn't try to
divine anything about Dell's performance from the sale.

The CEO -- who started a computer business in his University
of Texas dorm room in 1984 -- last year set up a New York
investment company with as much as $1 billion of his own money to
consolidate his investments and take stakes in other companies.
