More on Dell/Amazon E-commerce deal. scott: Here some more noteworthy points about the deal. ================== Source: NewsByte ......In regards to the here and now, though, Dell Home and Small Business Group Senior Vice President Paul Bell said, "We think that this arrangement will allow us to offer more benefits to our existing customers, as well as to reach new customers." "Both companies... believe we're in a highly complimentary set of businesses," Bell also said. "Dell and Amazon are planning to work together, evolving a whole new set of services that will really benefit our mutual set of customers." "What you'll now find when you log onto Amazon.com or Dell.com and go through the shopping process will be live links to each of our respective sites, encouraging you to visit," said Dell Online Director Bob Langer. "As soon as you choose one of those links, you'll be immediately connected to a co-branded Amazon/Dell page." At that point, of course, Dell customers will be able to buy Amazon.com products and vice versa, officials said. But Dell and Amazon officials declined to comment on how many people they expected to cross-click from each other's sites to the co-branded Web site. Dell's Langer said the company made the deal with Amazon because Dell's customers are asking for additional services while shopping at the Dell site. "For example, (we want to bring) the ability to offer highly personalized and specialized information on recommended reading or recommended system information (to our customers)," he said. One aspect of Amazon.com's services that won't carry over to the new co-branded site will be Amazon's one-click service, which immediately adds a book, music or video selection to a customer's online shopping cart, said Amazon.com vice president of business development Ram Shiriram. ................ newsbytes.com
