Simple and exponential is what I use, you may find you like tri and ts. Some stocks respond better to one and some to another.

Once that's done, you have to figure out what periods to use.
Some stocks work better with 28 and others with 50. Still others better with 21 and still more with 40. But the ones that work with 40 work with ts better unless you use 21 periods, then you have to use a simple mov avg.

See what I'm getting at?

I would spend much less time optimizing and more time flipping charts with any 3 short, mid and long term mov avgs you desire.

Once you've flipped a few hundred charts, play with another combination and take notes.

Some charts will jump out at you and most of them won't.

There are so many variables that you will never 'please' a chart exactly.

Flip as many charts as you can!
