Paul, Thank you for your LEVL comments.

Please let us know when you get more information on the fab situation. I bring it up because, as you know, with external dependance supplies can get expensive and unreliable. This is often the case if a customer is taking a large chunk (10% or greater) of a foundry's total output. Also it is difficult to rapidly grow if one is knocking up against installed capacity limits. Its hard to get third parties to plan right. This is a struggle for the leaders. Of course we know what a disaster it was for the likes of Cyrix!

Anyway, It would be interesting to know the situation with LEVL one silicon vendors. Perhaps this was a large part of the merger attraction to LEVL in that there is nobody better than Intel at fab growth planning logistics (and the capital to make things happen).

Jeff

Paul
You referenced Intel's relationship with QCOM. Would you please tell me more about that relationship and how you think it will play out over the next few years?
Also, do you know anything about the status of Intel's relationship with MRV Communications? Do you think that relationship will continue in the future?

'An "acquisition" would make more sense since analog expertise is difficult to develop internally when you are essentially "pure digital"'

Intel is known for being a very tough competitor with any one in its business. Otellini has been quoted as saying "if you're in digital then you're in our business."

Is it now true that if you're in digital or analog that you're in Intel's business?
