THIS IS WHAT I KNOW. . .
After reading all the anxiety on this board, I called the "corporate headquaters"
number that's been floating around this board and asked for Virtual Games.
"Sorry, wrong number." Then I started to panic, so I called the number at the
bottom of the Compaq release. I was handed off to a pleasant enough man who
told me: The Compaq deal was a preexisting aggreement before Multichip was
stock swapped into Virtual Games. "yes, the news release is real, yes the deal is
real, we'll probably be changing our name in another week" anymore questions,
please don't hesitate to call." Ok, so know I feel a bit better, but still skeptical. So,
I call Compaq and ask for Jim Newton, the guy quoted in the release. He calls me
back (to my surprise). I tell him I saw his name in a Virtual Games release and he
says "Who?" — my heart sinks. So I say "Multichip" and he lights right up, "Oh
sure, Multichip. Yeah, they've got a real solid technology that we're
supporting...working with them... have made a substantial investment in time and
money. . .we'll be with them at the Las Vegas show, and we'll be presenting it to
Disney with them and Disney Quest. We've (Compaq) done business projections
and we think there is a real good future in this technology." This is an engineer
from Compaq talking now, not some BS PR man or insider hoping to cash out.
This guy had absolutley NO reason to lead me on. So. . .me and my money stays
here.Post this around the world for me. My portfolio needs a winner.
