Bill....Perhaps gold traders are a bit gun shy. There have been many false rallies lately....I'm thinking gold is like a compressed spring...An explosive move is near...I've been wondering what is going to be the catalyst...Oil shock? Ole 49r suggested ASIAN buying a few days ago...I'm bias, having my whole load on NEM/ silver, but DAMN things are looking GREAT for precious metals....scotty

I wonder if Thailand can file against Goldman..possibly the way the world works,,people are scared to turn against too much somebody for fear their friends will turn against them and otracize them etc..
what a world..(hope I am wrong)
Charlie Maxwell is my favorite oil analyst and he thought this rally would probably be short lived if I heard him correctly but he does look for better prices in a year once the demerging nations start recovering..
I did hear bullish thoughts on natural gas in a couple of quarters..

(weird times..I heard the other day that now dairy products should start going down..I just wonder with these commodities who is making the big money..pork is so expensive in the supermarkets here..and the farmers are going bankrupt..oh well..it doesn't pay to know much..as it just creates more frustration

G7 to hold more talks on hedge fund
regulation-MOF

TOKYO, March 8 (Reuters) - Finance ministers and central bank
governors of the Group of Seven (G7) industrialised nations are
likely to discuss regulating hedge funds when they meet in April,
sources at Japan's Ministry of Finance (MOF) said on Monday.

''Japan has long been proposing more (hedge fund) regulation. The
G7 also made quite clear in a recent communique that further
measures would be studied,'' said a MOF source.

The communique issued at the February 20 meeting in Bonn said the G7 would consider whether
''additional reporting and disclosure by highly leveraged institutions themselves is warranted or
feasible.''

MOF sources, pointing out that Finance Minister Kiichi Miyazawa and a MOF advisory panel on
foreign exchange had called for stricter regulations on hedge funds, said more G7 discussions on the
topic were expected in forthcoming meetings.

BiLL:

I think recent stock performance confirms my assertion that black gold is a much better investment than the yellow. Oil prices simply had dropped too low for the global economy to tolerate. Speculators were starting to target the Saudi currency before word leaked out that oil producers were determined to cut output significantly.

The large number of oil bears (almost as vociferous as the gold bears) were blown out of the water and have totally lost credibility. Just before oil took off THE ECONOMIST ran an article predicting that $5 crude was just around the corner.

People on this thread should know that master stock market timer Don Wallenchuck who has been (and remains) very bullish on stocks has recently turned bullish on gold also. Sees gold starting a new run that will take it to now all time highs over the next few years. Wallenchuk has one of the best forecasting records around.

I still consider gold as essentially a gamble (albeit with very nice looking odds this year) and would never take a really big position like I have in energy. But with Wallenchuck turning bullish a modest position seems prudent at this time.
