Colin or Robert -- wash sale help. I've read the Sched. D and Pub 550 instructions and visited the fairmark site but still can't quite figure out the wash sales and cost basis for the following sequence of trades...please help me! (All trades occured in '98 and, of course are the same stock) 4/2 bot 2400 shares $12,000 4/7 bot 1000 shares $5,500 7/22 sold 3200 shares $11,400 8/6 bot 300 shares $1,089 8/14 sold 500 shares $1,938 9/9 bot 500 shares $1,344 9/10 bot 500 shares $1,406 9/11 bot 100 shares $300 9/17 sold 1100 shares $4056 thank you!
