Well I know there is debate about whether Sap was a gorilla. I personally never thought so. But at any rate the point is that leaders in a lucrative industry, whatever you call them, can crash and burn too. Moore just chose to write his book at a time when the old guard had been wiped out a little and it seemed like the new guys (Oracle, msft) were going to be around forever.

Adam,

Wanted to bouce a similar question off of you that I asked Michelle. Are you seeing indications from sources that PSFT/SAP are hurting i2's sales efforts? Essentially I'm getting the impression that people are thinking something is wrong at ITWO, but I haven't seen any indications of this. I see the uncertainty surrounding Y2K being an issue, but competitively ITWO was kicking butt and taking names last I looked. It was just a few months ago we were all talking about how SAP's architecture meant they wouldn't be able to keep up in a world of fast paced change. Lots of SAP top management is leaving. MANU is having an exodus of talent. ITWO says the hiring pool is better than they've seen in a long time and they're taking advantage. PSFT is... who knows with them, but definitely not good.

I'm not trying to convince myself that I'm right. It's just that the facts don't gel with the impression (perhaps interpreted) that i2 is having problems.
