John: Agreed. You missed out an important variable. It is St. Patrick's day next Wednesday. Next Friday at the close CPQ will be $36.

John, my question is _if_ CPQ should pre-warn, what estimates would they be pre-warning about? The recent analysts earning downgrades--upon which CPQ is not making comment--or the earlier estimates? Pre-warn so people think they are not going to make .35 or .30?

Yes, I think CPQ has really set itself up for some real confusion on the street and we shareholders, for some rocks in our guts.

>Pre-warning (this quarter) would be an absolute disaster (after the past 1 1/2, and the
>recent stock plunge)

I definitely agree.

John -
I want to remind everyone that CPQ has 2 big events at the end of this quarter, both at about when earnings will be announced. One is Innovate, which happens only once every 2 years, and which has top CEOs and partners at a big shindig in Houston, last year in excess of 6000. And these are the top guys, not engineers. This is april 12th, I think.

Second is the shareholders meeting on april 22nd.

These events have been in the pipe for a long time. If there were any chance that a disaster in the offing, EP, EM and everyone else on the team would be out doing damage control. The philosophy in these situations is if you have bad news and a big event, get the bad news out as far ahead of the event as possible so that there is no bad news left for the event.

Since that didn't happen, I feel certain that there is no bad news.
