CNBC's Tech Sector Quarterly Earnings Fact/Fiction section has finally correctly talked about CPQ and said (1) that CPQ said that Jan was slow for the SMB sector and (2) then showed a guy from SouthWest Securities who said that CPQ sales seemed to have improved in Feb and that he thought that CPQ could make their #

EL...I'm afraid that by the time AV gets out there it will be such an also-ran it will never be one of the big players on the net. Yahoo and AOL are clear leaders and the next tier like Lycos or Excite are every bit as good as AV. IMO AV has nothing to offer TWX in comparision to the well managed top tier internet players that are also looking for content providers. TWX has everything to offer so why should it consider a deal with a company that relatively has nothing to offer?

El: Faber only changed his AV - Time Warner story ("scoop")when it was denied by CPQ. Hardly sounds like a reporter with a line to EP or even a reliable inside source at CPQ. The fact that there may have been negotiations between CPQ and Time Warner has never been denied by CPQ but information about this may have come from Time Warner not CPQ. In fact, I heard EP say that CPQ had an ongoing relationship with Time Warner and was always exploring other possible forms, but CPQ was also actively exploring all other options. He mentioned that equity participation was an issue.
