Does anyone want to take a crack at comparing the competition?:

This was received by all Xoom users as a special offer. The difference that I can see is that this product is maintenance in nature whereas DGTL's is preventive. The product below does work on Playstation and other discs that currently DGTL's does not. If anyone wants the URL it is: orders.xoom.com Looks like this product is a little cheaper too, but is not guaranteed to salvage all disks. I look to find this Esprit Development Corp. and as far as I can tell it is not publicly traded and APPEARS to reside in Washington DC based on a search I did.

Wipe Out! CD Repair Kit
The One-Step Repair Solution

Remember when CDs first came out? They were supposed to last "forever." But as anyone who's repeatedly used a favorite CD knows, they can get damaged and become unreadable over time. Until now, if you needed the performance characteristics of new CDs, you bought new copies. Or took your chances on a used CD--if you could find it.
Now you have a choice--with Wipe Out! CD Repair Kit from Esprit Development Corporation

Wipe Out!: What It Is--And Isn't
Wipe Out! combines a patented polishing compound with polycarbonate CD plastic to remove scratches from damaged discs. Music CD's, CD-ROM's, DVD discs, PlayStation Games, even Laserdiscs, can be restored to full playability. Four out of five discs can be completely restored, with no audible glitches or missing data!
Wipe Out! is not a filler product! Unlike some cleaners, Wipe Out! is a buffing solution which removes scratches using your elbow grease. No foreign material is deposited on your CDs or introduced into your stereo or CD-ROM drive.
Wipe Out!: How it Works
Wipe Out! acts as a "liquid sandpaper" removing scratches from your disc, allowing the laser to re-read your digital information.
Wipe Out! CD Repair requires a single drop of solution per scratch. One bottle repairs dozens of scratched discs!
Wipe Out! will repair virtually any scratch. While furrows deep enough to damage the silver recording material are not repairable, such damage is rare, as the amount of force necessary to pierce the plastic protective layer will generally shatter or crack a CD.
Wipe Out! has fully repaired discs cut with knives, scratched by furniture and clawed by cats! Order Wipe Out! for Just $14.95!

Still skeptical? Then read these reviews from computer publications:
Macworld Magazine, December 1998, pg.82:
Wipe Out! clears up even big, scary scratches, such as the one that appeared on my Blur Modern Life is Rubbish CD after a bookcase was dragged over it repeatedly (don't ask)

GameWEEK Magazine, November 1998, pg.46:
G[ame] W[eek] Rating: A... An excellent product that has been highly reviewed. A great way to bring old, beat up PlayStation games back to life. It works flawlessly with music CDs and DVDs as well.

InformationWeek Magazine, September 29, 1997 Issue 650:
I tried Wipe Out! on a couple of CDs I had around, one with wear-and-tear scratches and the other with a couple of deep scratches manufactured with a knife. After shaking the product well, I rubbed the CDs with a drop of the liquid and the supplied cloth. In every case, the scratches disappeared.

Gamers' Republic Magazine, October 1998:
Using it couldn't be simpler: Just find the scratch on the disc, apply a drop of the liquid, and buff it, using the included rag, until the scratch is gone.

PC Gamer Magazine, September 1998:
Does what it is supposed to do; if you've got several scratched discs, it's much cheaper than replacing them. A good product worth checking into if you've been mistreating your discs.

MaximumPC Magazine, September 1998:
When your audio CDs start skipping or your computer spits out scratched CD-ROMs, you no longer need to toss them. We've tried this stuff, and it's miraculous!

Home Office Computing, June 1998:
Rated: Best Online Bargains Under 14.99 smoothes the scratches from your CDs.

Comp.media E-Zine, 1998:
The bottom line is that this product works and it works well. Wipe Out! can save you a lot of money by bringing new life to what you thought were dead audio CDs and CD-ROM applications.

New Jersey WebGuide, Volume I, Issue V, December 1997:
The spots that used to skip and/or jump on me no longer exist, and I'm thrilled at the reclaimed perfection of the sound.

Popular Home Automation, July, 1998:
The CD was popped into the player, and "Eureka!" it worked! No skipping! We tried a few other CDs, with similar results. This stuff really worked.

Tomorrow's World Magazine, Premier Issue, 1998:
And, praise be, it worked. A Stone Roses CD that sputtered through I am the Resurrection was resurrected - as was a CD of Bach that had started to sound like a techno remix.
