And, Jim, you are equally recalling my St. Sebastian's days. I remember running into all sorts of trouble over the use of the story of Onan to justify prohibiting masturbation. I was insane enough to have read it and must have been equally insane to have cited exactly why God supposedly struck him down for "spilling his seed upon the ground." This bit of scholarship was not welcome. BTW, oh, do I remember Novenas! And the Stations of the Cross! And the full Rosary, all Mysteries! Whew!
