CTC,

MB has been caught in a number of sloppy factual errors today.

It is clear, however, that PC BOX sales are going to be off this quarter for many of the box makers. IDC is expecting unit sales volume to be down 14.7% from Q4. This will directly impact AMD and Intel. It already has caused the downgrade of NSM, AMD and INTC earnings for the quarter. (see #51240 )

The question is what will be the effect on DELL unit sales?
DELL entered the quarter with a 100,000 unit backlog in orders and stated that it was closing its corporate bids at a rate close to 60% .
DELL has initiated several revenue enhancing new businesses.
The external storage products and the e-commerce extensions Gigabuys can be expected to contribute in Q1.

I do not think we can answer the question yet. There is not sufficient data.

JK

Chuzzie, If you knew anything about how incentives were accounted for, you might be dangerous. They do not impact revenues or margins until pay day. Then they go into SG&A that quarter, not in the one where you scammed the receivables.
