IMHO, looks like Intel voluntarily offered to play policeman for the Software companies. In return they get KNI support. The longer it goes
on the more it seems Intel is going to sell their soul to software.
Mark my words and copy this for posterity. In a couple years, if you want to install Win2000 (or a lot of other software) on a Computer with a Pentium III or Dixon or newer, you are going to have to have the ID turned on.
