A TV is cheaper!

Not really. However. The reason for getting a card is not so much to replace a TV as much as it is to be able to keep your eyes on a newscast while reading a story at the same time. Let us say you are scanning briefing.com and Morgan Stanley's site for information and you also expect that the same info may break on CNBC at any time - it's a pain to keep track of both. If you had a small TV window on one monitor - it becomes a lot easier.
