RG, you're of course correct about the need to advertise but Bid.com's problem is they don't have the big dollars needed to promote in the US. In addition the dollars they do have are being spent with AOL ($7M in '98) and it doesn't appear to be paying dividends. Might need a new ad strategy or new marketing people.

>>Aside from seeing the name on Aol a couple of times, I would never know they exist.

Here's something to ponder....

I was at a daytrading seminar last week. In response to the question, "How do you find stocks to trade?" the moderator mentioned some of the usual like IBD, Bloomberg, CNBC, etc, but also included checking the daily charts for most active stocks, biggest % gainers, highest volume traded, etc. When he asked if we did that routinely, everyone raised their hands, which brought on a fair amount of laughter. (we weren't so dumb after all)

The point of this is...a lot of people don't need advertising to get them hooked on a stock... they don't really care what it is when they see some action available. Daytraders often become investors once they get to know a stock. If BII can keep up the volume it will hit a chart and get lots of attention and interest from both daytraders and investors. Action on a stock also gets the attention of CNBC...

This is not to say that a good advertising blitz is not necessary just before and when it hits the Nas... just to be aware that other possibilities exist when it comes to making a stock known to investors.
