M2 PRESSWIRE-10 March 1999-HI-SPACE: Hi-SPACE launches new high performance optical disks (C)1994-99 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

* CeBIT 99 Stand 012 A61

Hi-SPACE, MPO's recordable optical media brand, is announcing the expansion of its multimedia and audio ranges with seven new products: an 80-minute 24-carat gold CD-R disc, a 4.7Gb DVD-R disk, an audio CD-R disc, and four coloured MiniDiscs in jewel cases at CeBIT 99.

In efforts to enhance Hi-SPACE's brand image and strengthen its market position in multimedia and audio, Hi-SPACE continues to consolidate its established position as a European pioneer in the world market for recordable optical media. Its mastery of organic, phase change and magneto-optical technologies gives it the ability to anticipate future developments in this highly buoyant market. At CeBIT, Hi-SPACE: will introduce seven new products aimed at both the professional and general markets.

Recordable Optical Media Hi-SPACE products are compatible with all existing material and can be relied upon for data integrity.

Hi-SPACE's recordable optical media is at the forefront of technological progress. Developments in multimedia disks have brought about further increases in storage capacity and media life for top-of-range media. Hi-SPACE's 24-carat gold CD-R disc stores up to 80 minutes of music and 700Mb of data. Its 24-carat gold coating gives it a lifetime of over a hundred years, making it the ideal long-term archiving format for data of all kinds.

The 4.7Gb DVD-R disc is the first European-produced DVD-RAM disc. This year the company is building further upon this technological advance with its 4.7Gb DVD-R disc, offering seven times the capacity of a traditional CD. This advanced storage medium makes it possible to archive large amounts of data and create prototype or pre-production DVDs.

The addition of the 24-carat gold CD-R and DVD-R will complement Hi-SPACE's wide range of recordable optical media. Gold and silver CD-Rs, printable CD-Rs in gold and silver (white, matt and shiny), CD-RW, DVD-RAM, magneto-optical disks, and diskettes are designed for both general and professional users.

Audio Hi-SPACE's audio CD-R is compatible with all consumer recorders. It represents an ideal solution for 74 minutes of archiving and production compilation. Hi-SPACE has once again anticipated the explosion in the recordable audio market, having first released its CD-R Audio disc in October 1998.

The Hi-SPACE MiniDisc range now offers a spectrum of colour choices. Compact and ultralight, the MiniDiscs are available in four new colours: green, blue, yellow and crystal, in addition to the existing red. For ease of use and storage, Hi-Space is now boxing its MiniDiscs in jewel cases, making them as convenient to use as audio cassettes. Guaranteeing a durable sound quality, Hi-SPACE MiniDiscs allow recording and re- recording of 74 minutes of music. Hi-SPACE products are available in several packaging combinations.
