NW Cable News Segment Title: Pilot Eye

The segment centered around the Microvision-Boeing contract for the Virtual Cockpit. The current cockpit will be a thing of the past. Several film clips are shown of work in the MVIS lab, scientists, pictures of different helmets, including the familiar RAH-66 and CEO Rick. "Fiction often precedes technology and this is a good example." This technology is something out of science fiction. Movie examples are cited, Robo Cop, Alien, where the alien can detect infra-red heat sources (i.e. Arnold Schwarzenegger) with it's helmet display.

A flight instructor and fighter pilot was interviewed, he indicates that he could have used this technology decades ago for training simulation and combat. Could have helped increase survivability. Airlines are looking to use this similar helmet for entertainment of the passengers, my favorite part of the segment, since I always bonk my head on those ceiling mounted TVs. This technology will be widespread in 3-5 years, and at an affordable price. Hollywood special effects advisor, Douglas Trumbull was mentioned as being on the Microvision Board of Directors.

End of Synopsis

Also wanted to thank Casey for the excellent explanation on estimating the value of the Army contract. Your effort is greatly appreciated!
