Neocon, this is tough to admit, but yes you did me a favor. I looked into gnet as an investment after seeing you and some others join SI through the go2net site. So far it has been a profitable move. The real difference between gnet users and SI users is advertising. We don't see any ads. If you login via the SI page, but you are not an SI member (Gnet members are not SI members) then you have the format of SI, but you still see the ads. Ads aren't really a big deal but thats the difference. My modem at home is slow so I prefer SI without ads there.

I think gnet quietly promotes the SI coffee shop threads vs. spreading the news via the media.... SI is a moderated forum with DBAs that remove offensive users and as such they can't handle the traffic that yahoo gets I suspect. I doubt it has much to do with the fees we paid to join SI that gnet users don't have to pay.

BTW the Gnet CEO went to school with Bill Gates, an interesting little tidbit.
