Yep, most of the fat ladies around here are poor. Maybe they're poor because they spend all their husband's money for groceries. He's skinny because he has to work as much as he can to feed her. The fat rich man got that way from stuffing himself with steaks as a reward for making the money. He dumped his ol' lady for the cute bottle blond who is willing to put up with the slob because she figures that he'll flop over with a heart attack, and she'll end up with the cash. She stays skinny because most of the food goes into him to hasten the end. Yeah, that's it. Del

Maybe it has to do with the number of pregnancies? My weight is all child-related, I was ravenous when I was pregnant, and gained a ton of weight during pregnancy. Then when I was breast-feeding, I kept eating to keep making milk. My stepmother's mother was with the Peace Corps in Honduras, she brought a Honduran family to visit one Christmas so they could get medical stuff done. I had just given birth two days before Christmas to my second son. The father of the Honduran family said, "Two boys? You get the big, black hen!" All I can say is, I wish someone had given me the big, black hen! I have never been hungrier in my life than right after Nicholas was born. Most women in my social class starve themselves during pregnancy because they don't want to get fat - I think it's bad for the babies.

There is food everywhere, all the serving sizes have gotten just huge, and it is not very healthy for anyone. I read somewhere this week that the small McDonald's fries now is the same size as the original large serving!! And you can supersize everything at a fast food restaurant for thirty nine cents! I do think poor women in particular tend to be huge because their only pleasure comes from food, which tends to be very starchy and not of very high quality. More affluent women have a wider variety of sensual pleasures with which to entertain themselves. And goodness knows, women need a LOT of sensual pleasures! Am I making any sense at all, incidentally? Please excuse me if I am not--I am struggling to recover from an extremely nasty spring flu (no fever, but feels like all the chest colds you have had in your life rolled into one, bordering on pneumonia) one which was obviously not covered by my annual flu vaccination, and which has been going around here and has left me mostly in bed and reeling in general for almost a week now. So please tell me if I am just babbling and I will go back to bed.
