sorry for the rant, I had just gotten of the Yahoo thread where its a bit wild and wooly. Anyway, the thing I think makes Qwest the dominant player is that its way ahead of anyone else. At least a year, maybe 2 ahead of LVLT. The others haven't got anything close to the intercity network Qwest will have in June.

Basically, when it comes to bandwidth, we have a monopoly for the next year or two. After that, LVLT is counting on coming in with their pure IP network to compete. However, Qwest may have the lucritive contracts locked up,and they certainly aren't simply going to sit by and let others catch up with superior tech.
