OT: re AMD: I would be very surprised if in fact anybody were to want to take AMD over. My reasons (I had a position for a while with the company and got out after almost two years by the skin of my teeth): It's pretty much a one-product company going toe to toe with INTC. They have a consistent history of profitability problems derived from yield problems that are only solved after the chip they are producing has become - dated... CEO has a history of making forecasts company can't meet... all my own very humble opinion of course. While waiting for shoes to drop with VLSI, spending time in the oil patch trying to dredge up the latest, greatest home run candidate. Based on what has happened in the last few days in the sector, may be too late... or not. I know next to nothing about that business, so last week I bought a small sector fund position. (up 20% in 4 trading days)
