I don't think QQQ pays much of a dividend (another tax advantage), and it's not one company, so I don't think there's anything like a DRP. I think the best bet is to use a deep discount broker with commissions as low as $5 for trades.

I plan on opening an account with Brown & Co. ($5 trades for market orders) to actively trade QQQ and SPDRs in my IRA based on technical analysis. The lower alpha (individual stock) risk makes these index equities very attractive for IRA trading, as you won't get killed by one earnings disappointment, and consistent compounding should grow your investment substantially over time.

Being able to short on a downtick (in non-retirement accounts), as well as being able to trade options (even writing covered calls in an IRA) is a huge plus.

Any thoughts on this strategy?
