"I feel that instituting a policy that ensures (shareholders) know in advance when insiders intend to sell stock is simply the right thing to do," Ricketts said in a statement. From Ameri-trade Joe Konen, former president of the company who now serves as chief executive of its OnMoney unit, sold 39,734 shares, on a pre-split basis, on Feb. 3 and 4 for an average price of about $64 a share, just 5 percent below the stock's record high. Konen pocketed $2.5 million from the transaction, which left him with some 35,500 shares, according to a regulatory filing, meaning he sold half >/i>his holdings. But a spokeswoman for Konen said the executive sold just 15 percent of his total holdings, if shares held in his profit-sharing plan are included. Konen sold the shares to diversify his assets, she said, adding AmeriTrade shares previously made up 99 percent of his liquid net worth. The firm's chief financial officer, Robert Slezak, sold 21,734 shares on Feb. 3 for an average price of $64.38 a share.
