hal,
Thanks for clarifying.
<<<<until PAIR proves otherwise, rumors notwithstanding.>>>>
I agree completely on the proof part.
I believe it will be a process rather than an event!
I think the process has been going on for some time.
I really believe it started with the ADTN price war stuff about 5 or 6 quarters though.
I've observed some progress(I Think) I believe at that time PAIR realized they needed to start distancing themselves from a one product wonder back then.
In the last CC they made a major effort to point out that they are no have realized for sometime, to become dependent on HDSL and only the RBOCS was a BIG mistake.
I think with the recent P/R's about Avedia, PFlex(The PR Yesterday) The HDSL-2 line(which is in a sense HDSL but more 2nd generation than the original)
hal, I've even been wondering if maybe we're lookin' in the wrong corner for what's happening re: buy out.
This may sound like an even longer long shot than yours but think about this:
PAIR is small and fighting the Monsters of the universe! What if the reason we are not hearing about contracts is..... Because contracts aren't the focus! THIS IS ALL JUST WHAT IF:
But Knowing they have to partner or Merge! They would have found some one that is willing to work with them on negotiating a reasonable price for PAIR.
Now with this being the situation would it make sense for PAIR and the prospect to develop a plan to determine their value? There is time between now and when this stuff is going to be in great demand. The prospect says! "Get approval of your second generation equipment in as many places ans you can! Focus on approval not contracts(Think about it) With say CSCO's marketing and sales skills? Do they NEED
PAIR to get contracts? IF PAIR gets approval and Interoperability! Whoever the buyer is COULD take care of Marketing and sales after the deal!
This (I Think) would also fit with your strike three theory on CSCO!
Just some ideas running in my head lately but I don't think we got the whole picture and this industry seems to me to be an anything goes game at this point.
Believe me I agree with the idea of parkin' money else where if I could!
Hope this makes sense! I got a phone call in the middle and don't know if I jumped the track on this post.
Your buddy,
Jay
And! Thanks again for clarifyin' hal.
