EMC in Street Life column by Fortune Mag's Andrew Serwer 3/9/1999: " EMC.... Is this the new juggernaut or what?!? You know, I don't think even being on BusinessWeek's cover is going to hurt this sucka. Jinx no more. Remember when Boston (Route 128) rivaled Silicon Valley? I know, you got to go waaaaay back! I'm talking about the glory days of DEC, Wang and Prime. Well, ever since about 1985 it's been straight down the hop, if you know what I mean. Wellfleet was just a blip. But all along, EMC was chuggin'. Today, it's the No. 2 stock in the S&P 500 for the decade, behind Dell. And it's the only major success story out of Route 128 this decade. Stock was up over $3 today to $114. EMC has gained nearly 70 points in five months!! "EMC is in the driver's seat" of its industry, said Goldman Sachs analyst Laura Conigliaro. (She related to Tony?)
