He's a stock screener. The article describes the screen criteria, which are basically numerically based. They don't look at prospects or products, instead give a list of stocks to investigate further--in this case if you want to try to find some companies that might be taken over. This is what Individual Investor and NAII, etc. do the most of. It's only unusual that it somehow got published.
