Re: "Your optimism is irrational. In two years, INPR has managed to go no where. Not in revenues growth, earnings, or shareholder value. What is left to watch for?"

The very fact that it's been two years now with nothing makes me optimistic. There are many investors who look for good company's with good products who have been overlooked for long periods of time. Inprise is well into a long negative and that makes it attractive by itself. But when one takes the following into account:

Current stock price HAS big write off announced for this quarter factored in. The App server was just released this past December and has some customer participation (no financial terms were released) so there is potential for earnings surprise and that is NOT factored in.

I have stated on this thread before that if one wishes to look back at the tools business or Borland history it looks like the market has it right on with the stock price, but things are starting to change. Asia is starting to come back around Japan markets have been rallying do to this. Inprise missed their last two quarters by just the amount that Asian sales were down.

Beside everyone is looking for nothing but negative negative negative and I presume there is another quarter of this. After that I have very optimistic outlook that 2nd half of this year will be a watershed period for Inprise or Borland.com or whatever or whomever may buy and rename this company with it's enterprise and tools products.

I don't think my optimism is as off as all the pessimism will prove to be! it's just a matter of time?

Borland has a bad name with Wall St. and Del Yocum tried to correct that in the wrong way and Wall St. didn't like his curt manner in this. But the products and interest in them are there. Also the Y2K has slowed the turnaround a bit that's another factor which is nearing an end. I say it's a great time to start getting in before all this and more starts taking effect. And just think if they sell that big expense of buildings that's up for sale it will only mean improved cost savings.

Expecially the Apps Server business.

Also look at the volume on most of the down days it's been lower than average. That is an indication there is a lack of interest in the stock and not so much negative forward looking facts. It also indicates there is a wait and see attitude.

Wake up and smell the coffee! At this time this is probably one of the safest investments to be in. I do not buy the idea that it is going to sink fast and hard! It is a perfect entry point.

David,

Some of these thread participants are in major denial, a very common occurence. Easier than admitting to yourself that you made a mistake.
