"We saw A & E departments stretched
to the limit this winter.

"Modernising our facilities will improve
services to patients, should defuse
the tensions which result when
patients wait for hours in
unsatisfactory conditions and relieve
stress on doctors and nurses."

The NHS Confederation warned that
there was still a "massive problem" of backlog maintenance in the NHS.

Chief Executive Stephen Thornton said: "Even with these additional
sums, people must be realistic about what the NHS can achieve.

"There are many more equally important demands for the use of capital in
the NHS - not just accident and emergency departments."

This is the real U.K. I have no doubt the doctors are great. I bet the system sucks big time! The poor in this country get great care. The rich from all over the world come here. Pinochet did not and bet he is sorry he went to the U.K.

One must wonder where did the 50% non survival figure come from? Lets see 50% don't make it or have not made it but this can be brought down to 5%. Has it been brought down? Show me the numbers.

Ever seen the rest of the civilized world where free health care means no health care and only the rich can fly somewhere else to get the best? Again, I think some of the best doctors I have ever met are so called third world doctors. They care, they listen. But the hospitals, even those for the rich, don't have the infrastructure designed to give the best treatment to anyone.
