Black Angus have a reputation for being the best beef but I think that is old hat. Herefords used to be cat hammed and didn't produce as big of a steak as an Angus. Modern breeds are pretty much the same meat wise except for Charlais (huge white ones) which have really big steaks. What they are fed, corn, range fed, hay, and cared for and what size and how they are slaughtered and aged make a bigger difference than breed. Some of the best "beef" I've had recently was Yak. Also if you find a good steak house, they cook the steaks at a much higher temperature than the average broiler will reach. I cook mine over charcoal and flaming wood when I want a really good meal.
