More on PSX2

>> Thought the new console has the ability to play DVDs, Sony has not yet decided whether to
include all the interfaces that would be required for the console to play standard DVD
movies. <<

As expected, Sony will likely package the PSX2-DVD as a higher price model. I can almost
certain that some Asian developer(s) will create a DVD interface for standard model for less
than U$100.

Since PSX2 is using WinCE as Dreamcast and has IEEE 1394 firewire connectors, the next
logical step is to covert the PSX2 to a STB. If this strategy work out as planned. PC games
may have difficulty dominate the gaming industry. This is something THQ may want to pay
attention to as it is now aggressively moving into PC game industry. Anyway, it maybe a bit
early to make any judgement until PSX2 shipped.

And don't forget N128. Nintendo said the N128 will be as good or better than PSX2 at a cheaper price!

Todd,

Where do the analyst derive their estimates? Sales growth projections based on years past? Product demand forecasts based on THQ's competitors? Or are they getting to conservative guidance from management? Does the phases of the moon have any impact? :o)

THQ has proven repeatedly than past estimates were too low. And if any other company(at least large cap) had did the same thing with exceeding the mark by so much, these analysts would have raised the earnings numbers much higher along with strong buy recommendations.

Maybe BF should over the next few weeks hint that the current estimates are too low?

Kelvin

P.S. Who are the analyts who came up with these estimates anyway?

This is a case where Farrell is may be to blame. He gets such a kick out of making the analysts look like fools. Perhaps a case of two smart by half.
