Here is the latest Daily Mining News for today: Subj: -The Daily Mining News for March 12/99 Date: 3/11/99 5:54:31 PM Pacific Standard Time From: subscriptions@stockscape.com This free service is brought to you in part by Stockscape.com and NewsstandExpress.com Here is THE DAILY MINING NEWS for March 12, 1999, straight from the editorial desk of The Prospector LATIN AMERICA *****Lab Error Distorts Results at Aripuana Ambrex Mining (AMBX:CDN) released revised results from the Valley Deposit at the Aripuana gold/silver/copper/zinc/lead property in Brazil, saying that variations in check assays led to a previous understatement of results by as much as 48% over some intersections. The company says that a technical error in the original lab procedures was the problem. (Mar 10/99) *****Results Extend Program at Alto de Lipangue Medinah Energy (MDIN:NASDAQ BB) reported what is says is an important new discovery at the Alto de Lipangue gold/copper project in Chile. Hole 99-01 was drilled to test a small IP target outside and west of a larger anomaly. The company says the was completed at a depth of 70 m and returned anomalous gold values. Hole 99-02, drilled on the edge of a large IP anomaly about 200 m east of hole 99-01, intersected the flank of a granodiorite intrusive, the target rock, and continued in granodiorite to the depth of the hole. At a depth of 100, the sulfide mineralisation included pyrite, molybdenite and chalcopyrite. The company says that assays confirm the presence of copper and gold in low but significant values over a continuous thickness of about 140 m. Hole 99-03 was collared at the centre of a large anomaly, about 250 m southwest of hole 99-02. At 91 meters, the granodiorite found throughout the hole was mineralised and highly silicified. Continuous breccia, silicification and mineralisation including massive pyrite and chalcopyrite were observed from 91 m to the bottom of the hole at 297.5 m. Assays received so far for the hole are 1.979 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 85 m, including 3.71 g/t gold over 11 m, 2.88 g/t gold over 10 m, 9.875 g/t gold over 4 m and 0.772% copper over 35 m. Complete gold assays are pending along with all those for silver. Due to the results, Medinah approved a recommendation to expand the program with drilling that will include anomalies on the neighboring Las Dos Marias property. (Mar 10/99) EUROPE *****Check Samples Hint at High-Grade Mineralisation in Slovakia Slovakian Gram Minerals (GRAM:CDN) provided an update on prospecting and sampling on Hnusta and Cucma gold/silver/antimony properties in Slovakia. Recent sampling of sulphide rich mineralized rock from the adit dumps at Ohrablo on the Hnusta property returned assays of 30.0 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 22.0 (g/t) silver, while sampling on moderately mineralised rock returned 14.0 g/t gold and 10.0 g/t silver and rock samples containing only weakly disseminated sulphides returned 2.5 g/t gold and 2.5 g/t silver. The company says samples were analysed by labs in Slovakia, but that three additional samples of variably mineralised rock were forwarded to Ontario. The forwarded samples returned assays of 3.6 g/t gold and 3.5 g/t silver, 5.2 g/t gold and 1.4 g/t silver and 13.85 g/t gold and 10.1 g/t silver. At the Cucma property, three reference samples of mineralised vein material from the Gabriela vein were also forwarded to Ontario for check against assays obtained in Slovakia. Original results included 17.6 g/t gold and 19.72% antimony from sample BGZ-6, 36.3 g/t gold and 18.36% antimony from sample BGZ-7 and 10.55 g/t gold and 0.12% antimony from sample BGZ-8. Check assays for BGZ-6 were 16.8 g/t gold and 21.4% antimony, while those for sample BGZ-7 were 35.1 g/t gold and 9.82% antimony and 22.0 g/t gold and 0.12% antimony for sample BGZ-8. The company feels that sampling to date suggests potential for discovery of both high-grade gold mineralisation and bulk mineable gold/silver/antimony mineralisation.
