I ain't no expert, but cash is largest part of M-1. Yes, believe there is a multiplier in equation that says something about as cash goes up M-1 goes up around 1.3X.

about the cash thing, I still would NOT buy airline ticket from cash. Would rather not carry large amounts on my person. Kept in one's home, a "little" should not be a problem. Smaller bills and change are the key! (no one buys and sells drugs with jars of dimes from what I hear) druggies, I think, love big bills. Also, I'm holding onto some travlers checques for a "just in case" thing.

I'm guessing as cash shortage becomes REAL others will buy travlers checques also and American Express might do well 4th quarter - BWDIK.
