Bullish outlook for cable modems
The use of cable modems for Internet connectivity and data transmission will grow dramatically over the next five years from about 2.5 million installed units in 1999 to 24.3 million units in 2004. Research firm Computer Economics of Carlsbad, Calif. said it expects revenue for cable modem services to grow to $6.8 billion by 2004. The average monthly service fee will be $24, the researchers added.
