Suggestion. Instead of IRC why not use Yahoo Clubs and Yahoo pager. First the club. The general message boards on YHOO suck, but there are some clubs that are decent. The best thing is you can have a private club, by invitation only and anyone that gets rowdy can be kicked out by the club founders. At it's most basic the club is just like this thread, simply a message board but... it also offers a live chat that's as good if not better than IRC. Again, only club members are allowed. The advantage over IRC are several. 1. Ease of use. No software to download and configure. Rocket surgeon degree not required, it's a small java program that runs on your computer, should be usable by AOL types as well. 2. Less lag. IRC can lag quite a bit, from what i've seen of chat on YHOO this is not the case. 3. Easy to implement. All a person has to do is have a Yahoo name, then they can be invited to join. Invite the people that contribute to this thread. This should cut out the MM's and also the "how dare you short my pet stock, i'm going to tear off your face and wipe your ass with it you shorting puke, your going down" type people. Secondly the Yahoo pager. This is a small program that you can download from Yahoo and run in the background. It'll let you keep track of several portfolios but the quotes are delayed, but it's nice feature is it's use as a pager. If Anthony gets this he could put anyone he wanted in a group on the pager then when it was time for a pick he could send it to everyone. As long as your logged on and have the pager runnning it will pop up a window with the message. If your not logged on, when you do log on and start the pager the message will be there. Just an idea.
