Hey! You don't suppose that raw meat has anything to do with the anchovy tarts and all that, do you?

<Do you think it means anything that so many of us here eat--and aren't apologetic about it--red meat? you, ALex, Ish, who else?>

I can't get enough of the stuff. Now I won't eat it raw. Taht is my wife's thing. But if I could afford it I'd eat steak every night except Sunday, when I'd barbecue a big old sirloin tip roast.

I'm home alone this week but I feel rotten, so there has been no red meat yet. Except for the steak I had at the Japanese steak house for lunch today. Tomorrow I can't eat meat. I'll make up for it Saturday.

Deal. But which one, the Low-Rent Common Man Odometer Party, or the Anal-retentive Bean-Counter Millenial Party? I still wonder if the better part of valor is to stay home when the odometer clicks over.

Betty and I keep Omaha Steaks solvent, although we have one of the best butchers in the world not far from here. We are especially fond of their top round - as good as most filets, but even tastier. Although Matt and Katie can't eat meat, Linnie loves a good rare steak (something I didn't have until I was about 14).

Steak tartare is signature Milwaukee party fare. Homemade sauce (heavy on the horseradish) is de riguere, as is fresh spring onion.
