Why is everyone getting excited? The .08 gain from securities doesn't count toward operating revenue. If it was an .08 loss, everyone would be backing it out to get to results from operations.

As for the "pc sales are there", what does that mean? It is a middle of the road type statement that is interpreted however you want. It could mean "pc sales haven't totally collapsed yet" more easily than "pc sales are robust".

Putting a positive spin on things isn't going to change the fact that short term the pc industry hurting on unexpected seasonal weakness.

Howie... MSFT's comment is the first valid, worthwhile comment I've heard regarding pc demand. Sounds like they went to bat for CPQ as well as themselves. El

Howie: This will make you laugh ... Tony Dwyer analyst on CNBC now basically said buy DELL over CPQ - they're both consolidating now, but he thinks CPQ is dead money for the next 6 months.
