Microsoft CFO Likes Earnings Estimates
SEATTLE (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) chief financial officer Greg Maffei said Thursday he was comfortable with earnings estimates for the current third quarter despite a plan to shift $400 million in revenues into future periods.

Maffei said in a conference call with analysts that the shift in revenue, most of which will be recognized in the fourth quarter, would be offset by an increase in investment income.

On average analysts expect Microsoft to earn $0.65 in the current quarter, according to First call, up from $0.50 a year earlier.

Maffei said Microsoft was seeing an expected seasonal slowdown in revenues as computer manufacturers bring down inventories after a strong holiday season and preparing for the release of Intel Corp. (Nasdaq:INTC - news)'s new Pentium III processor.

''The business is fine,'' Maffei said. ''The revenue side is coming in just as we expected and we're quite happy with the progress of this quarter.''

He said that, despite some concerns about a potential market slowdown, Microsoft's business suggests that worldwide end-user demand remains ''very good.'' Maffei also said the company was on track to release Office 2000 for manufacturing by the end of the current quarter

This is the Gorilla of all Gorilla's........
$400 million will go into the unearned revenue fund located in the basement of Bill G's house. Phenomenal growth. This is another 6.5 cents per share that they can, if they want to claim this quarter. This is a true growth company. Last Qtr they contributed $400 mil and the previous qtr they put $250 (I believe the #'s are close). All this means more money for all of us who are shareholders.
Go MSFT.
Go Bill G.
Go Steve B.
an amazing company.
