Is it possible your blood pressure is in any way inversly proportional to the price of the almighty Q??
If so you may have problems in the near future.

*3G* Gregg and all, I received the following message [minor editing]. Any comments?

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Some feel that the big push toward 3G by the VW-40 crowd is mainly a ploy to get additional spectrum. Certainly this is a priority for NTT in Japan. It might also be the case with less urgency for European operators.

I also think that the GSM people see the need to get into CDMA with the GSM network interface [MAPS?]. I think they were impressed by the CDMA/GSM advantage of approximately a factor of 2 to 3 for mobile voice, and alarmed at the additional advantages for data and fixed wireless [WLL].

Some time ago, Sprint stated that they saw no need for more spectrum at this time. So from Sprint's perspective, they do not need more spectrum and they certainly do not need a CDMA interface for MAPS. This means that the best outcome for them would be a delay for 3G.

Re: What is Ericy able to offer to Q!?

Not the whole story, but probably significant, the CDMA overlay with the GSM network interface [MAPS?] might require an exchange of licenses. I understand that the project with Vodaphone died because of pressure from European equipment manufacturers [Ericy?]. This pressure could have been through clauses in the GSM licenses.

In this way, Ericy could hold the key to the CDMA overlay which is very big bucks for Q!
