<<<You
don't really have any idea about how really shitty it is in some parts or the world or
how it actually came to be that way. >>>

I am quite sure one wouldn't have to scratch too deep to find evidence of US involvement in the creation of a lot of this shit you mention.
Why just today someone posted on here an admission of US involvement in creating unlivable shitty conditions in Guatamala..

As far as the Hutus and Tutsis,,, The US was quite aware of this going to take place and did nothing, followed by some kind of weak apology from Clinton... much the same as his letting us know that it was "wrong" what we did in Guatamala..
This is pointless to go on I guess.. It sounds to me that you have reconciled yourself with it's a dog eat dog world, and the end justifies the means no matter how cruel...

AMEN!!!! Praise the lord and pass the guns and butter... I have finally found a kindred political spirit here on SI.... <VBG>

Nuke44... That was truly an incredible post... Thanks for letting me know that I'm not alone out here.

Btw, I spent 6 months on one of the military humanitarian missions. We tooled around the Darien Province of Panama slingloading our gear from site to site rebuilding schools, most within 75 klicks of the Colombian border and FARC guerilla bases.

Now we called it nation building... but the people in the area called it a miracle since their own gov't was either unwilling or incapable of doing anything for them.

There I saw the corruption and poverty for myself, as well as the indomitable human spirit trudging forward one day at a time.

And these activities are occuring throughout the world as we speak 365 days a year, in almost every geographical region.

Regards,

Ron
